“The reality is, what options do we have?”

gaza child

Poor, pitiful, helpless United States of America.  It really has no options in this latest terrible Israeli war crime, you see.  So says the sponsored alibi manufacturer, Aaron David Miller, in a New York Times article explaining the roots of Barack Obama’s endorsement of the ongoing Israeli re-enactment of the Nazi bombing of Guernica.  “The reality is, what options do we have?,” asks the “scholar” Miller.

Even in this market-totalitarian empire of untruths, you don’t often find more brazen deceptions than this.

See these tanks here?:

I’m no expert, but I’d wager very heavily they’re US-made M60s, given that the USA has gifted 700 of them to Israel.  The above photo is from today’s New York Times.  These M60s are lining up for an impending Israeli land invasion of Gaza.

And the warplanes dropping all those bombs and missiles, blowing up markets and schools?  F-16s, of which Israel has received 226, gratis.

The United States provides Israel with not just free military hardware, but also $3 billion a year in military aid money.  (Israel’s per capita GDP, by the way, is $23,578.)

“The reality is, what options do we have?”

With leadership like this, I’d say the answer is getting rather clearer every day…

  1. The man in the photograph carrying (to me, a father) his son is now, without regard to what he might have been in the past, an implacable enemy of Israel. His father, his brothers, his mother, his sisters, his uncles, his aunts, his friends are all now implacable enemies of Israel. If they were enemies in the past, they are now more so. If they were not enemies in the past, then they are now and forever.

There is a simple arithmetic here that has often foiled the hubris of power. The only answer to it is genocide. If genocide is Israel’s only option, the lessons of the Holocaust have been incorrectly learned.

Much more of this and what remains of the human capital conferred on Israel by the Holocaust will be used up. In a world of raw power, which seems to be the world for which Israel is preparing, a few (million) Palestinians here or there would not matter, but then neither would a few million Israelis. Then everyone will be carrying their kids home from play.

Unfortunately, this is probably what Obama mean’t by “spreading the wealth around”.

  3. That’s just it, though: Bad as tit-for-tat situations are, they are at least proportional. This is 100+ revenge for every one rocket death. And, of course, there is UN 242, which Israel defies, with our funding and at our permission if not behest. (I think behest, as the Israel thing makes a great distraction from more fundamental oil-land politics, like democracy…)

And everybody has the right to resist occupations that deny them political rights and a chance at normal existence.

  4. The tanks? They are probably Israeli made Merkava tanks, the sort that were thought to be immune to anti-tank weapons until showed up by Hezbollah.
